1What is the Metcelerate Program?
Metcelerate is a unique, world-leading professional formation program for early-career professionals designed to accelerate technical competence in the mineral processing workplace.
2What are the key goals of the Metcelerate program?
Metcelerate was devised with two key objectives in mind: To equip engineers with the skills, behaviours and habits to make better decisions faster. And to empower organizations with a pipeline of problem-solving, value-generating process engineers.
3How is the Metcelerate program delivered?
Metcelerate is delivered through a flexible online training experience that provides participants with the freedom to learn when and where it is most convenient. While learning activities are largely self-paced, each course has a fixed start and finish date with set times for live tutorials and deadlines for assignments.
4How much study time does Metcelerate require?
The full 20-month program requires between 3-5 hours of study per week on average, with additional time required for onsite activities. It works out at around 300 hours of total study time.
5What does the Metcelerate program cost?
The cost will vary according to the number of participants enrolled by the organization. We will be happy to discuss this with you, so please contact us.
6How is the administration managed?
Metcelerate aims to reduce the administrative load for our partners by communicating directly with participants and following up with them on assignments, as well as providing regular reports for the business.
7What is the role of the Metcelerate mentor?
The Metcelerate mentor’s role is to help learners understand how their newly acquired knowledge applies to their specific workplace context. Mentors also help facilitate access to areas of the plant that learners may not typically work in. Additionally, mentors act as a point of contact for the Metcelerate team on learner progress and for those learners that are falling behind in the Program, they help find effective ways to balance study commitments with work responsibilities.
Participants
1Can individuals register for the Program?
No, the Metcelerate Program is not offered to individuals. All participants must be sponsored by their companies, so in the first instance, you should talk to your HR team or Technical Lead and express your interest to them.
2What are the eligibility qualifications for participants?
Typically our learners are recent graduates in the early stages of their career as metallurgists, geologists or mining, chemical, mechanical or electrical engineers. Most have between 1 – 5 years’ in-plant experience. While we do not require that candidates have a university degree, we do recommend they understand engineering principals.
3How is course content accessed?
Courses are accessed via a dashboard on the Metcelerate Learning Management System (LMS).
4Can I continue to access content after I graduate?
Yes, a lot of learning material could continue to be very useful in your work. All learning material will remain available for as long as your organization is participating in the Metcelerate program.
5Can I work with others on assignments?
Yes, we encourage participants from the same company to form groups of up to three and submit assignments as a team. This collaborative approach enhances learning and creates a valuable opportunity to discuss and address specific operational workplace challenges.
6Will I meet participants from other companies?
Yes, during the tutorials, you'll have the opportunity to meet participants from other companies.
7How often are assignments due?
Typically, you’ll be required to submit one short assignment for each course module, approximately every three weeks. The assignments are discussed during the tutorial sessions, and we encourage you to ask the course leaders questions if anything is unclear.
8Is Metcelerate compatible with FIFO working?
Yes. Depending on your situation, you may choose to study primarily on site or in your own time at home. Either way, the key is to plan your study in advance around your schedule and commit to meeting the assignment due dates.
